| Artist's Statement |
 C. Kevin Atter's artwork summons forth the call of ancient messages. Each
painting evokes the sacred feminine as well as the balance between the feminine and
masculine. The infusion of dreams and visions are derived from the mythology of various
ancient cultures, centering on mystical and spiritual origins. She entwines the synergism
between human and animal into ethereal realms. Her works are a confluence of the pervasive
cultural mythologies of the Goddess, Huntress, Warrior, Priestess, Seer, Heroine, Fairy,
Healer and Protector, symbolizing personal growth, empowerment and spiritual guidance. The
references to raptors and feathers common in Kevin's art represent the mysterious and
unfathomable flow of energy in the Universe. Her mesmerizing art fosters reflection and
contemplation.Kevin's works of art explores the vast potential of mixed media. The creation of each painting is an instinctual and evolving process exploring new techniques. She melds various media including pen and ink, watercolors, pastels, gouache, charcoal and acrylic with the intricate process of lacquer overlays. Her art is a spectrum of colors ranging from subtle, earth-tone hues to bright and vibrant tones rendered in vivid and exquisite detail. Each surrealistic piece is a stylistic convergence of the special bond between woman and animal, representing the harmony of nature. The delicate intricacy of her imagery coalesces into a unique form of visual expression. Kevin was born in Alaska and is of Norwegian and Scottish heritage. In her childhood Kevin's father often told tales of the mythologies of ancient cultures, igniting her imagination and channeling her own creative energy. She studied art in various locations in the Pacific Northwest and Santa Fe, New Mexico, U.S.A. After traveling extensively abroad, Kevin lives part-time on Hydra, a Greek Island sanctuary of ecological preservation. The island is steeped in ancient history and is like taking a step into the past. Kevin finds a wealth of inspiration for her work in Hydra's timeless land and the sea surrounding it. The underlying message her art conveys is the potential for personal and spiritual growth in each individual. She hopes that others will find inspiration from her work.
